Community reviews for the Sofia Coppola Short Film Award are now officially closed.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to review projects, share thoughtful feedback and help elevate emerging filmmakers. The response throughout the award has been remarkable, and we look forward to announcing the finalists soon.

During the review period, community members evaluated projects based on criteria including unique voice, visual quality, and originality. These reviews established the projects advancing as finalists. These 25 finalists represent the top 1% from the total submission pool. From here, the DCP Board and Sofia Coppola will review the finalists and select the award recipient.

The selected filmmaker will receive an award package designed to help bring their short film to life, including:

• $20,000 to produce a short film

• Mentorship support

• Marketing and P&A support

• Distribution of the completed film on DCP+

DCP also recently sponsored a dinner with The Bay List at Cafe Zoetrope bringing together a talented group of writers and members of the local creative community. The same way that The Black List has helped to democratize visibility for writers around the world, The Bay List seeks to bring equity and access to Bay Area storytellers.

DCP's co-founder and acclaimed filmmaker Roman Coppola was also in attendance. The Bay List's Rafael Casal celebrated his attendance by stating "having Roman in the room with these writers was a true gift—one of those nights that stays with people long after it ends."
